This judge knows what he likes and is consistent. He will zero in on a good dog and put that dog up, even if owner-handled over top specials and big-name handlers for best of breed. Looks for good movement, outline, proportion/balance, and nice heads. Soft-spoken and kind to exhibitors.

Needs to brush up on his Siberian Husky movement standards. In Knoxville he put up dogs with incorrect choppy movement and obvious tail faults. But they had handlers on the end of their leads, imagine that.

Gave a dog BOB that clearly has a major fault he needs to revisit his standards before judging

Extremely knowledgeable of structure and movement. Doberman background allows him to avoid rewarding undue exaggeration. Fair to Owner Handlers. Expects adult entries to be trained for conformation.

Very quiet but very pleasant. Found the best dog in the ring and explained why he could not put her up that day and he was sorry (Baby dog melodrama) but it was against the standard. Very very impressed and nobody was upset by his rightful decision.

Very attentive and seemingly fair. Didn't get the impression that he was judging anything other than the dogs. Demonstrated no bias against puppies. Close calls seemed to come down to movement -- sent many classes observed for extra laps before making final decisions. My dog did not win under him, but I respected his assessment.

Will use a deserving puppy and will also put up owner handlers.

Gave our boy wd/ohbob owner handled (Brindle) and our bitch wb/bw/os (Fawn) with a handler on her. Seemed to do what he wanted and not influenced by who is in the ring. BOB went to a owner handled special (blue). **UPDATE** He went all harl today...

If I could give less than a 1, I would. He judged Westminster yesterday and had in his ring, arguably the best Dobe we have seen in years, a top winning bitch for years straight (the number 1 in conformation, also participates and ranks in other AKC sports.) A tremendous specimen and, to top it off, owner/breeder handled. I would not know the dog's owner if I fell over her, but when the bitch was being shown on the west coast, I watched her in action and actually had my hands on her, several times. I can not deny that she is exquistie and has deserved her wins in every way. It is safe to say that much of the Dobe fancy in the US is distraught by this judge's omission of Fifi from selection. I, like many others, will never show a Dobe, or any dog for that matter, to this man. It is unclear why he did what he did, but, for whatever reason, it is wrong. I have never said this of any judge, and in 15 years of showing, this is only my second (but far most egregiousness) action by a judge that has rendered him on a DNS list.

Put up a poor and unconditioned behemoth of a fawn puppy over a very competitive harl. Only two dogs entered and he very blatantly didn't even look at the harl. Both entries owner/handler shown. ***Update: I've now seen more of his selections and I get it. FAWN JUDGE. I'll never bring my colored dogs to him again.

All over the map with his choices. Will find a beautiful puppy and give it reserve to a professionally handled "pet." The only thing consistent about this judge is that he always takes care of his friends...even if that means putting up a cow-hocked dog, or one totally lacking breed type, etc.

Very pleasant in the ring. Does like good movement, is good with pups. Will place an owner handler

This judge has a great knowledge of many working breed standards. Will even tell you why he chose you.

For a judge that also has the Breed,VERY STRANGE pick for WD puppy that is a bad growing stage and moving in 2 pieces right now. Much better dogs were entered.

This judge is very pleasant, looks at the dog not the handler; appreciates and rewards good movement regardless of class or handler. Will always give him an entry.

Did a very nice job. Appreciates the owner handler. Not afraid to give Majors to puppies if it is was he feels is the best on that day. Gave my 6 month old puppy a 4 pt major at his very first show. Friendly and patient with puppies. Pays close attention to movement. Will show to again.

Extremely rough on Koms while checking the bite. This breed can't see with all the hair on their head. Mr. Vandiver face was inches within the mouth of the Koms and some inexperienced dogs were not pleased with this. A MUCH better & preferred way is to ask the handlers to show the bite.

This judge admires a owner handler likes good movement |
