Patient and polite to exhibitors. One exhibitor was literally running to come into the ring from the far side when the steward called his class and the judge told him to take his time, no need to run (very hot day, outdoor ring, exhibitor was waiting in the shade). I watched him judge a number of breeds over two days. Easy to follow his judging, looks at movement and overall quality of the dogs. Will put up an owner-handler over a well-known handler if the dog is good enough. Will show to him again.

Look up the results for 7/21/22 and 7/24/22 in South Bend, IN and decide for yourself.

I have found him to be disinterested in dogs presented by owner handlers. I got the feeling I was wasting his time with a dog that has been rewarded by honest judges.

Such a pleasant man...but long, friendly chats with the PHs entered isn't a good look. Especially when they take all the wins. Over heard him say, outloud...not even quietly "I prefer the Standards,myself"...so all you Mini exhibitors...save your $$

acted disinterested, made it obvious if you were not going to be considered. would not show to again.

totally disengaged from judging. Single entry breed so I get it, but at least give folks their 2 minutes

Time for him to retire. He either doesn't care or doesn't know the breed standard. Have shown to him 3 times and each time his choices are wildly different from before in terms of type and movement.

As predicted, he put up his judge friend and gave her everything he could just as he did at the Kachina show in 2016. Save your money cause if he has a friend in the ring, you do not stand a chance.

Never likes anything this BOH brings in the ring (including multi-BIS, multi-Group winning). He used to love one dog, gave him big group placements, then suddenly doesn't even make the cut - and the dog looks better than ever! Inexplicable. His demeanor in the ring has become blah the past year. But still look for him to play games and slay a few Giants whenever he judges. I don't wish to play anymore.

Very political. Did not give every dog in his ring equal consideration or time. Totally dismissed the non-professionals. Succumbed to one of the breeds professional handlers bullying tactics. Did not judge dogs, just judged faces. It was very obvious. DNS list now for sure.

did a nice job with a small entry despite there being pro handlers in the ring- i was impressed with his knowledge

He did nice job and not afraid of color and he did cross over also . I think he knows what he likes and is a fair judge

This judge does not know the Akita Standard, or opts to ignore it to put up his handler friends. He put up the worst bitch in the ring for WB and BOS because the handler was a friend of his. The bitch was very small with small bone and a narrow head. He must of missed the part in the standard that says an Akita is large and powerful with heavy bone, and a large tail balanced by a broad head. That applies to females too. Prior to going in the ring to show, a breeder told me how nice she thought my bitch was. She said don't expect to win though as this judge always picks the smallest bitch in the ring no matter what the breed. Then the female professional handler took her bitch in the ring, and immediately the judge said hi to her addressing her by name, telling her how glad he was to see her, and they laughed and carried on a conversation. I knew it was over at that point before I even took my bitch in. The same breeder then told me that female handler was very well known but usually didn't show in this area. A perfect example of a handler bringing two poor quality bitch to a show she wouldn't normally go to because her friend the judge will put her up no matter what the dogs look like. That's exactly what happened. On the top of my Do Not Show To list. Put up all professional handlers, and I don't think he has ever read the Akita Standard.

Not consistent and does not know our standard. Chooses friends. This was apparent as I knew when I saw a particular BMD breeder/judge at the show, I knew she had come for someone as she does not come to a show unless she has a friend in the ring. It was obvious to everyone. More importantly, I had a young bitch that is at the age where she if iffy about men. He did not even allow me to set up my dog before he started to go over her. I had just set front and went to rear when he went for her mouth to check teeth. He did not allow me to be at her head to support her. I am thrilled that she did not react, but he could have easily given my puppy a bad experience and that is just not acceptable. Judges need to learn to judge the dogs as you don't know who will be watching. I personally will never hire this judge.

Doesn't allow the dog to get in the way of his 'judging' . . . a waste of time and money

Does not have knowledge of the breed he is judging in working group. Puts up what he likes not what is the breed standard. A handler judge that is not a movement judge.

While I did not think this judge overly friendly, he was pleasant and very professional and thorough. I watched him judge several breeds and I would say he seemed to really enjoy the dogs and be seriously evaluating each one. In our breed, he took his time with each exhibit and was judging dogs not faces. As it is near the year's end, it seems like he was more concerned with faces in group.

Showed to him in the terrier group and also in BBE group and he was funny making jokes and being very pleasant - even at the end of the weekend on sunday late afternoon. He seemed to really enjoy the dogs. I think he did a good job and will give him another entry. **UPDATE** Times have changed - he is now disinterested, bored, quiet and doesn't pay attention to the dogs. It felt as if we were interrupting him or a bother. Nope. Never again.

Chatted with the handlers in the ring. Put up entries that did not carry their tail. Went through the motions. Would not give him another entry.

First time showing to this judge, and I liked a lot about him. On time, consistent judging, gave you ample time to set up, good approach to the dogs, and was good with them. Clear instructions. I would say he likes movement and a sound structure on a dog. All his choices reflected this. Only thing i can find fault was in Group where his cut was all pro handlers

I have shown to Mr. Stacy several times. Usually in the classes he can find a good dog and is consistent in choosing good movers who exhibit correct type. However, in the group ring handlers rule. I have recently seen him put a class bitch (with a handler on it) up over the Number One dog of that breed. Very rough with the dog on table. I won't be taking any puppies to him.

He is a little heavy handed on the table with minpins. They are supposed to be judged on the floor NOT the table. Otherwise he does an ok job in the breed

Mr Stacy judged a supported entry in my breed. He had individuals of excellent quality as well as individuals of mediocre/average quality. For all major awards, he placed the typiest entries, who all happened to be owner-handled. WB/RWB both came from the BBE class. He was patient, easy on the dogs and gracious in all remarks. I will definitely bring dogs of quality to him in the future.

Likes older style more traditional looking poms, doesn't particularly go for smaller or cuter specimens.

He either disliked me or my dog, for reasons unknown. Do not show a dog with good structure and movement if its on the larger side of the breed standard. Day 1: Dog with damaged coat and poor movement. Day 2: After my bitch won Breed and Toy Group 1 (bred-by) under another judge, he barely touched my dog on the table nor watched her walk in either the Toy Group ring or BIS-Bred By. If his mind was already made up, that's how it goes but he should have at least looked a her for 30 seconds in case the day before was just a bad day or something

Extremely heavy handed! Very rough on a 7 month puppy when examining the bite. Agree about the face-judging.

Don't bother to show under this guy unless you have a big name face handling your dog. He looks at faces first then the dog

Very nice man with a straight forward ring procedure. He is patient with both people & pups. Good hands. Will have handlers change or swap so the dog can be presented better. Is consistent in the type of dog he prefers. The dogs like him. Update: 2017 Showed a bitch to him who despises men. He was good with her & she liked him. He still likes the same style of greyhound he did back in 2008. He still looks for type, balance, and movement. His dogs look like dogs & the bitches like bitches.

Have found him to be very pleasant when I've shown to him, win or lose, I feel he judges the dogs. Seems to be looking for a pretty, correct moving dog.

I had heard good things about him, but his judging was all over the place as to type. I had not even a clue what he was looking for. His WD & WB in goldens were completely different types as was his BOB? Did the same thing in Dachshunds, took one type as class dogs and then another as BOB.

Beggining his Toy Breeds and I watched him judge a variety of breeds from various groups and never caught him judging up the lead. He was pleasant and very good with the dogs and esp pups. He wanted a very showy dog but also looked to the standard for the other qualities they should posses. |
