Doesn't know the standard very well; likes fluffy and isn't concerned with correct movement. North end of lead and very inconsistent to the breed standard. |

Have had no luck getting him to consider quality dogs if there are
better known handlers in the ring from his area (VA). Possibly prefers
older style Poms or at least older style handlers. |

Mr. Dean was very quiet, so you had to pay close attention to what he wanted. In single entry classes, he had you go straight around and to the table and then do a “triangle” with the dog. He was professional, but not very expressive or “friendly” (neither was he unfriendly). For males, he seemed to lean towards very LARGE headed boys. For females, he seemed to prefer very SMALL girls (overall size, not specific to heads). Additionally, it was very evident that he did not like lighter brindles at all, even if they were superior to other dogs in the same class. He also seemed to lean a little more towards handlers and younger, pretty girls with less focus on the dog’s movement or overall dog. His final awards were deserving, though the class placements didn’t seem to make a lot of sense. Not sure if I would show to him again or not. |

Pleasant in the ring. Gave a very small entry a thorough exam. Will show to again. |

Very pleasant in the ring. Put a very nice puppy up winners and went with a specials bitch for BOB over male champions. Will show to again. |

A joy to show too reguardless if you win or lose! He knows the breeds very well and will almost always chose the best dog over a professional handler and/or friend. |

Wants a balanced, elegant dog that has plenty of neck and enough leg under it. I've seen him put up owner handlers over pro handlers many times. |

Will put up puppies for points and BOB. He doesn't speak much so you need to pay attention to his hand gestures. |

Mr Dean has always been one of my favorite judges, even though I dont win under him consistently. He is great with puppies on the table, and that is a big deal to me. The one thing that I wish he wouldnt do is go directly on the table with single class entries. They should have the chance to move first just like the multiple class entries. |

Judged a very large entry of cavaliers. Found most of the best; put up both well-known handlers and unknown owner-handled exhibits. Seemed to be looking for nice movement and overall package. |

I have revised my assessment on this judge. He does appreciate the elegance of the breed and understands the need to have a sound working dog with that elegance. I would recommend this judge. |

Likes a smaller, well balanced Ig with pretty side gait. Likes a moderate Ig---not too curvy. |

He seems to appreciate good movement and balance. The day we showed to him, he wasn't very talkative, all business, but not harsh or anything. Good hands. |

Did a good job judging Vizslas this past summer. He put up the best moving class bitch for WB even though several others had Pro's on them. |

Should not judge juniors. Makes no effort to give kids a fair shot in large crowded ring. Big dogs couldn't take a step, kept them all in in the order they came in, then put up the boys in the class. |

Always pleasant to show to. Tends to look at who is on the end of the leash, and forgets that he is supposed to be judging the dogs. |

Judging is inconsistent, better than some |

He can be consistent and just when you got it...he switches boats in the middle of the lake. He seems to like a bit more bone even when the std doesn't call for it. In Poms I'd say a little more chowy look. He is pleasant and good with the dogs. |

Good judge - looks for good movement if no familiar faces in the ring |

One of my favorites. Has been very consistent over the years. Will use a smaller more petite girl and is not bothered by color. Sidegait is important. |

Very poor judge in my opinion. Put up a backyard bred, pet quality bitch with a pitbull crop for WB over a beautifully balanced bitch with an exquisite head. There were no pro handlers on bitches, so that wasnt a factor. Very very biased against natural ears, at least in boxers. |

Will put up puppies for the points and even BOB, but will *not* even consider them in the group. |
