This man should retire ! He gave best of breed and all the ribbons to pretty female handlers. It didn’t matter that one young male dog she gave breed to is so cow hawked his legs touch in the rear when he moves ! Did not even look at the dogs ! All handlers

I have shown to Judge Robert Caswell three times. My first time, I was showing a very nice 2 year old Tervuren at his first show. I was very nervous. Mr. Caswell was extremely pleasant and told me to relax and have fun. We went WD, BOW. The second time about a year and a half later with a superb class bitch and went WB, BW, BOS. Both times there was pro-handler competition. The third time was recent and I was showing a very nice special (different breed) and went BOB and later pulled in the group (I believe I was the only non-pro handler in the group). I also watched him judge breeds I am familiar with and he has no problem putting up very nice class entries that are presented well by novice handlers. I enthusiastically recommend him for anyone who gets very nervous as he truly tries to make the experience fun for both the dog and the exhibitor. He rewards both quality dogs and good presentation. He wants the exhibitors and dogs to have fun. He is personable, good with dogs, and has a great sense of humor.

Have never actually shown to this judge, but from what I have observed ringside I never will. Very political, nasty attitude, makes inappropriate comments to exhibitors. Not sure how he ever acquired a judges license!

Doesnt watch all the dogs, turns backs on exhibitors. Not at all friendly and doesnt appear to even like to judge. Good hands on the dogs however.

I will never show under this judge again. He does not know movement or conformation. He is very political and does not judge the dog but which well known handler is on the other side of the leash. I am very disappointed that this is the type of judge that we have in the AKC circuit.

This man is beyond disgusting. He does not examine dogs, he does not watch dogs move and then makes the excuse of admiring a woman handler's legs instead of the dog's down and back. THIS WAS IN THE GROUP RING! Gets confused easily and tries to give ribbons to pretty women even if they cannot be given a ribbon (best opp - to class dog, then select?) He seemed so disinterested in the dogs that no one (even the winners), were happy. Judges like this are what kill our sport.

No time to set up - in and around then immediate approach - did ask handler to show mouth. He spoke once to the dog, never heard anything else from him. Made my dog run around like crazy then gave it to a poorer moving pup - BOB over three owner handled specials ....major name handler on the pup though. On my DNS list

beyond disappointed in this judge. He made inappropriate comments to exhibitors about other exhibitors. Seemed to be judging the handlers rather than the dogs. Found his behavior distasteful.

seemed disinterested in really examining and watching the breeds he was judging. Barely watched them at all...apparently made up his mind based on the handler. will skip this judge in the future

I believe him to be a very fair judge. Put up my 6 month old puppy for breed over 5 specials novice owner handled

This "judge" was photographed on his cell phone WHILE judging a breed in the ring at a show in Hanford, CA on June15, 2012. I will not give this "judge" an entry and I hope you won't either! DNS!

If you are a owner handler - do NOT waste your money. Will only put up handlers. On my DNS list.

I've shown to Mr. Caswell twice with a harl special, owner handled, taken breed both times with most or all of the big name Cali handlers in the ring. So I haven't seen the political stuff others are talking about. He's always a very pleasant man.

Definitely political. As expected, he put up a local handler friend.

I'm amazed at how often he judges on the Florida circuit! For as many judges as there are, you would think they could manage NOT to hire him every year. He is very political which probably explains this ongoing assignment.

Puts up "all breed handlers" no matter how bad the dog is. Has no clue regarding the standard for the breed. Seems afraid of GSDs or most large breeds Found him to be very unpleasant, overly impressed with himself and is a permanent DNS.

Handler judge. Only placed big name handlers, regardless of the quality of the dogs. In fact...even seemed biased on the handlers, only putting up one pair in all classes. |
