Very obvious handler judge. (not my dogs) 2 dogs in ring, obvious which one should have won. She chose mini on handler with bad tail set, bad topline, no reach and no drive over beautiful standard with none of those faults. She continued in other coats to repeat when handler was there, they won. Some deserved but most did not. Very pleasant to show to but chooses handlers every time.

Have shown breeds from both the working and hound groups and have found her to be fair and understanding in the ring. She just smiled when my puppy was being rotten and made her time in her ring enjoyable. She will judge the dogs not the handler. I would show to her any chance I could. One of the few good ones left in our sport.

watching several breeds I cannot say she was a handler judge, except perhaps in Group. in my breed she definitely wants a dog with refined type. NO dogs with heavy bone at all.

Just judge a regional specialty. Was a little political but would show to her again given the right situation. She does allow you time to stack your dog and does look at a young dogs out of coat. Definitely worth showing a puppy to because she is very gentle soft hands with them.

Have become increasingly disappointed in this judge. Used to think she judged dogs, knew structure and movement but now I think she's become a "sheep" like so many other judges...just putting up the heavily advertised dogs with big faces. If she were even remotely consistent, I could almost stomach it.

Showed to Ms. Capstick this past weekend in Wichita. While you couldn't find a nicer person she was flagrantly a handlers judge. I generally stand my own with the handlers and don't particularly scream politics when I don't win but her actions had everyone shaking their heads. Unless you are at a show where you don't anticipate the heavy hitters I suggest you save your money.

We did not find Ms. Capstick to be swayed by professional handlers. She does have a rather caustic sense of humor... as she handed John the ribbons she quipped "you have a beautiful bitch with a great topline, structure and headpiece. Imagine how stunning she will be when you figure out how to show her."
Feb 10, 2014anonymousworking
She is very attentive and seemed to be looking for proper structure and movement, coming and going, and sidegait. Would show to her again.

my young son showed to her and she was very pleasant and patient with him. my son said he had a great ring experience and enjoyed showing to her. she even told him he did a great job in exhibiting, will show to her again, this was my son's second time ever in show ring he went WD and BOS.

Inconsistent. Can't follow what she's looking for. No matter what type of dog I show her, I never win. Have no idea what she wants except a top handler

Ms. Capstick is very pleasant and fun to show too. She picks the best dog, not a handler judge. Really key to have a good mover and can be a tooth fairy.

I enjoyed showing to Ms Capstick, and she gave my boy WD who was only 1 year old and a smaller (but correctly built) compact dog. She also did a good job with the other classes in the breed and I agreed with all her choices. I showed in bred by, and she found my dog despite my amateurish handling capabilities. She certainly did not just put up handlers as there were some in there against us, so I disagree with other comments who say she put up faces. IMHO she judged the dogs.

Pleasant to show to. Patient with dogs and handlers. Better have the full package

Very disappointed with this Judge. Used to do a nice job. But now that she puts up faces across the board. Her picks at the Milwaukee Specialty are a perfect example. DNS, save your money.

Not sure how well she knows the standard. Seem to go with faces and handlers.

Found her judging satisfactory for several years but more recently, not so much. Whatever she is looking for, my dogs don't have it.
Mar 18, 20122jjokTerriers
Watched her judge several terriers and was really disappointed with her choices this time around many were incorrect in size and structure for their standard. I used to respect her, but wonder now what she is thinking. May not show to her again after what I witnessed as a spectator.

Didn't know the standard and had to look it up while judging in the ring, unbelievable.

Very gentle with pups and dogs, good direction, efficient ring. Definitely puts up north end of lead.
Jan 24, 20122herding
Goes with her favorite handlers.
Nov 18, 20111NoneDane
IMHO her picks were a bit questionable in class and especially in Breed

Ms. Capstick is definitely looking for movement and solid structure. She does a thorough exam on the table and is truly interested in a well rounded dog. Will show to again.

Shown twice to her with major entries. First time she put up sound dogs with good side gait, elegance, proper angulation and neck. Next time she put up a dog with faulty ears that broke in the middle and flopped forward and a puppy bitch that would not walk on lead -- same handler with both.

Pleasant in the ring but seems to go with the safe bet or familiar faces.

Wasn't expecting a thing with handlers in the ring, but wanted to show my 9-12 littermates to her as I heard she had a gentle hand, which she did. She really seemed to enjoy judging them and the pups loved her. Darn if she didn't give them breed and best op over a grdch special! She knew what she wanted, and just did it and she did it with confidence, These are winning puppies, so it wasn't their first points, but I had heard she was political. I'd have to say that is not true at all!!
Aug 30, 20101anonherding
agreed. knows what she likes and its not always based on the dog. Movement is not a consideration of her choices. Seems to pick the dog with the most substance in the ring or the handler she knows the best.
Jul 21, 20104AnonymousWorking
Very nice judge. Pleasant with all of the dogs. Didn't seem to care who was at the end of the lead if there was a good dog in front.
Oct 10, 2009Judge ExpertHerdingExpert!
Agree that she is a very nice lady, very pleasant to man and beast. Would take her a novice dog or puppy.....but....she is definately predisposed in her choices.....which don't necessarily have to do with the dog.
Feb 2, 20091anonymousBeagles
DNS. Won't use a bitch for breed.

Have shown to her a few times. Very nice lady. I perfer to show to her when there are single points and take new puppies she is wonderful with them and gives them a good look. She also allows you to stack you dog and doesnt rush her ring.
Sep 13, 20084SunclipseNon Sporting
Very pleasant, although she seemed predisposed in her picks. Whether a lack of knowledge, or just taking the safe route, handlers did very well under her. I wouldn't put her on a DNS status, but would like to see her again.
Apr 26, 20082Ardenvale BoxersBoxers
Very nice person to judge to. Very gentle with the dogs. I wouldnt hesitate to give her an inexperienced puppy. The entry I saw her judge was very small, but i would say that she prefers a more substantial dog.
Feb 16, 20084AnonymousWorking Group
Definitely on my DNS List. In judging the breeds at Westminster I've noticed that a few of the dogs picked were less superior than others. Not sure whether she actually was looking for the best dog, or who was on the other end of the lead, or if a friend's dog was in the ring. We'll never know but one thing is for sure and that is that I definitely wouldn't be showing under Ms. Capstick again.
Feb 14, 20082AnonymousWorkingExpert!
Watched her judge at Westminster. No idea what she was looking for. She seemed to dump all the top dogs in breed. After watching this, I doubt I'll ever show to her.

Original Breed Dobermans. Likes substance and movement.

All over the map. Ring procedure was irritatingly unclear. Got behind schedule. Seems to have very little interest in Standards, or judging closest to them. DNS DNS DNS.
