Very sweet man, but not sure he knows the standard. It may be time for him to retire.

Giving a 1 rating, because there is no 0 rating. In this breed temperament is paramount. The standard calls for excellence of temperament. "Must appear confident at all times" Also strong secondary sex characteristics. This judge gave winners bitch to a quivering , eye rolling , basket case, and when he handed the ribbon to the handler, the bitch tried to "leave town". and Winners dog to a refined, small , poor moving male. To make matters more atrocious, he was VISIBLY AFRAID of the dogs , and when his petite bitch turned her head (away from him) he jerked his arm back, and looked as if he would fall over backwards from the effort to get away from this puppy. She was merely looking around, wagging her tail the whole time. Ringside was appalled at seeing a judge overreact to this, if the comments were any indication. If one is AFRAID of the breed, please DON"T JUDGE IT. Also when every exhibitor was stacking their dogs he stood, with a sour, "I wish I were anywhere else but here" look on his face, frowning. If a person no longer enjoys judging, maybe that person should hang up the spurs. It is a real downer to exhibitors and spectators. To say this person is DNS, is a huge understatement.

We just returned from showing to Vincent Grosso. Our 7 month old Mastiff was “excused” by this judge. I would rate him at “1” - He seems to detest Mastiffs and our puppy picked up on that. This is the first time our pup ever pulled away from a judge or a male. Grosso seems to hate judging and Mastiffs so why bother?

Will never get another entry from me!! with O/H's in the ring with far better dogs than the pro handler had, he goes with the handler every time. BTW The dog the handler had moves like a german shepard and would not stand for the exam, guess that does not matter to this guy!! DNS unless you can get a big time pro on your dog!

I’m not sure what he wanted, what he was looking at, or if he knew that he was supposed to be judging a dog show. He did not pay attention to any exhibit until he had to make a selection of WD, WB. He selected WB without moving the exhibits, or allowing them to stack. I think that is kind of strange, even if I did win since I had both class winners.

Do not waste your entry money unless you have a big name handler. Doesn't care about movement, type or structure. He only looks for the handler and it has to be a professional.

Mr. Grosso really needs to review the breed standards before judging...it is very obvious that he just picked up our breed using an "Open book" test and didn't bother to really understand the details. I agree with everyone else....definitely not worth an entry fee...

Kind man, not rushed, very thorough. Appears to really like his class dogs, and not afraid to put up a correct dog. Not impressed by faces from what I can tell.

As an unknown he put my bitch up for 4pt major over a very well-known terrier handler. Told the provisional judge he was mentoring exactly why....bone, body, low to the ground, substance and excellent topline. Likes a moderate to smaller dog. Would go back to him in a minute with his type of dog.

Mr Grosso gave my bitch a group placement years ago, and I sure wasn't wearing any short skirt. I recently showed that bitch's son to him, and though we made the cut, he didn't place us. What he found were wonderful dogs, not handlers necessarily and in particular a lovely young dobe bitch the exhibitor of which was asking questions ringside as to what she was supposed to do. That group 2 was hardly him having found a short skirt, or the usual suspects. I have even more respoect for Mr Grosso now than before this weekend.

When I showed my male to him in the classes, he was fine. Not rushed or rude to me. And my skirt wasn't short and I don't have any influence over assignments for him.

If you wear a short skirt, or can get him an assignment...you have a chance. Otherwise stay home!

Barely appears aware that he is even judging a dog show. Goes through the motions, then just places the professional handlers in the Group. Looks like he would rather be somewhere else.

Even tho I won under him, he is rude and acts like he does not enjoy judging.

I have heard he doesn't like to judge mastiffs, and in particular is fussy about slobber (which kinda comes with the territory)
