Judged an entry of a rare, low entry breed. The breed standard is not very long and it is disappointing when the judge obviously has not even read the first paragraph or is incapable of understanding it. Even if he had not looked at the standard he should have at least been able to recognize poor movement. But it may be that he was looking at the wrong end of the lead.

Knows a good dog, looks at movement.

Puts up good dogs, regardless of who's handling. Willing to put OH BOB over big name handlers. Looking for movement, outline, breed type.

Did a large entry of a rare breed and found the lame dogs, All shown by the same handler pair.

This is a very nice man. Ring procedure was good. However in this breed he doesn't seem to understand the Standard. He did the Loose Lead Temperament Test then put up a dog that was clearly unsound during same. This breed is nothing without solid temperament. Will not show to him again.

Pleasant judge however disappointed with some of his choices. Selected one with poor topline and very high in the rears. Felt he really didn’t know the breed.

Seriously needs to stay far away from my breed. Has no understanding. Judges like him are why we are seeing poor temperament, incorrect movement and tail sets. I just can’t... DNS shameful lack of knowledge (and I am a breeder judge and mentor)

Mr Watson is clueless about what a sighthound is. Mr Watson's Best of Breed was the biggest, clunkiest dog in the ring, the Select dog was the second biggest dog in the ring. In my breed, the biggest dog is not necessarily the best dog. the next day in the hound group, Mr Watson was again clueless. I agree that that he thinks he is looking for movement, but alas, picked the dogs that were not the best in the group. He will never get an entry from me again.

think he is looking for movement but also looking at the other end of the lead.

Pleasant judge, gentle hands on the dog, wants handler to show the bite. Could be a bit swayed in decisions by who is on the end of the lead as he put up may dogs who were weak in topline but had handlers on the end of the lead.

Mr. Watson has a very friendly manner in the ring and was courteous to all spectators. HOWEVER, he awarded BOB to the worst Basset entry in attendance. The dog had a nice headpiece, but no wrap-around whatsoever - his front legs came straight down from his shoulders (think coffee table) and he was actually pigeon-toed! Exhibitors and spectators alike were stunned in disbelief! He may be good on some breeds, but totally clueless about how a Basset Hound should look or move. The dog had a pro handler, but the dog was so glaringly bad that even that shouldn't have made the difference.

First time I showed to him he put up lesser dogs with pro handlers, so did not enter to him for several years. When he was doing a show in my area years later and exhibitors were putting together a major, I agreed to enter. Was pleased to see that he judged dogs, made good choices; was patient with dogs and exhibitors. Would show to him again.

Was very pleased with his judging. Did a wonderful job with all of the dogs. Took his time and I believe he picks the dogs he thought were the best. Would definitely show to him again.

A pleasure to show to. Happy to be there, knew what he wanted from the dogs and found it easily. Judged the bottom end of the lead rather than the top.

Seemed to know and appreciate good movement. Dumped the pro handler in the ring for a dog with better movement. WD/WB were very consistent.

He was judging a lot of dogs and every exhibitor he would look at the face B4 he judged the dog AND, several of us thought this was interesting. He put up mostly handlers is his ring.

Very uneven in his judging. Seems to be comfortable with handlers and faces. In the absence of one of these cues he seems to prefer the heavier more overdone dogs and bitches. I suspect he does not understand the breed type very well.
