I have observed him for many years and he is consistent with the type he rewards. Thankfully it matches the breed standard.

Horrible. Observed him judging several terrier breeds at big show in Harrisburg PA. His only picks in a terrier group were top handlers whom he knows. Nothing was about quality of dogs. Sorry will not waste another entry, even we ended up this time with 4 point major on my special. That's besides the point, he simply had to give it to somebody and here I was.

Very professional with his ring procedure but not strict. Felt he gave everyone a good look in the classes.

I don't always win under him but he is pleasant and professional. I feel like I get my money's worth. "High Value" judge. He seems to put up typey, sound moving of correct size animals. As far as pro handler verses owner handler, equal opportunity to win providing you have the good animal.

Will give the best dog the win, even with an owner handler

Very analytical, will take his time. You know that your dog has been judged to the standard. Didn't use professional handlers anymore than owner/handlers. Instructions clear & easy to follow.

looks at the correct end of the lead, gives owner handlers equal attention. Would show to again & I didnt win.

Gave my puppy WD and BOW due to movement.

Loves structure, movement and good breed type.

I was told this judge is all about movement and structure and I experienced it first hand. I am surpised to see postings about him not looking at movement because he obviously does. He seldom lets the dogs stand still especially those that should be judged while moving. Maybe he is working on his standards education because I watched several rings and he was looking at movement and structure all day. He is also not a handler judge as he dumped most of the professionals the day I watched him because he was choosing the better dogs.

Doesn't seem to know good movement, or maybe doesn't care. Put up bad-moving dogs for Winners, then for BOB over specials. I was also confused by his choice in bulldogs, since his BOB winner did not have the characteristic back & forth movement at all. However, I don't know the bulldog standard that well.

Dr. Penta is both rude and officious! Doesn't put you up, unless he "knows" who you are!

Seems to do better each time I observe him, so I think he is working on it. I would recommend him

Knows the standard and judges dogs. Wants a well groomed dog and does not favor one color over another. Good with puppies.

Needs to revisit the standard. Does not know correct movement or confirmation specific to our breed.

Have found this judge to be extremely consistent, looking for a pretty, good moving dog.

Knows a nice bulldog, prefers compact/standard. Will put nice class dogs up over specials (saw this in Bostons & Bulldogs). Takes his time to examine each dog and look at them lined up. Very thoural.

Observed judge. Didnt put up a single Pro the day we watched him. All the dogs he chose in terriers were nice and met the standards. We did NOT see evidence of political motivation. **UPDATE 2016** I observed this judge most of the assignment today and I still value his opinions and his thoughtfulness in his selections. He is looking at each dog in his ring and using his knowledge to select what in his eye are those which meet the standards as closely as possible. I saw zero political motivations all day. Bravo! AKC needs more like Mr. Penta!

Will put up a larger than average dog handeled by a junior handler. Movement is more important than who is on the end of the lead. not political!

I've yet to see this man put up a dog w/o looking at faces.
