Believe him to be a handler judge.

He knows dogs, but will go with handlers first. If there are no handlers he does a better job judging. If you are scheduled to show under him in the afternoon, there's no telling what he'll do. He gets very tired and just places by order that the dogs come in.

Recently judged the BTCA National with a very large entry. At times he seemed addled and confused. By the time he got to bitches he didn't bother giving more than a cursory look on the table and basically took his picks from the first four entries in each class.

Looks at sidegait. | ||||||||

Obviously is clueless about the cardi standard. Gave winners to a backyard-quality dog that had not been able to get points.

I think he did a good job of judging the dogs. Even though my Open bitch was placed reserve to a puppy, I still agreed with his placement in the breed. The puppy was nicer. Definitely looks at movement and type. Not so much a head hunter. Politics didn't seem to play into his decisions. Would show to again.

Seems to know what he likes and does not care who is on the end of the lead. Will show to him again!! Very nice man!

I've never shown to him, just been stuck in the same hotel in St. Louis during a snowstorm. What a nice, nice person!

Mr Connolly being a boxer guy, is a headhunter. He loves a dog with a beautiful headpiece. Will put up less side movement or front faults if there is a gorgeous head. He also will put up dogs totally out of coat for the same. He will pass on a beautiful dog if he can't get ears once in the ring. He will even beg for them... One of my favorites, I would walk the world to exhibit to him. Agree with substance as well

Likes good movement. He is very pleasant to show to and runs his ring well. Gentle with the dogs - would be excellent to take a young puppy to for ring experience.

Does like good movement and substance. Seems to be consistent in what he's putting up.

He seems to like substance and appreciate good side movement. Definitely disliked my refined natural ear bitch, but put up my large, substantial natual ear male Dane who has good side movement. I think he knows what he likes and puts that up consistently.

Have been told that this judge does not like brindles or natural ears. |
