Judge's Background & History |
Mr. Daniel Wheatcroft
Home: Acton, CA
Initial Breed: Shetland SheepdogsI began showing dogs in the late 1970s. The natural beauty of breeds, in both form and function, inspired me. I am a Motion Picture Producer, so I guess my “creative side” was tossing me an intriguing challenge and thus started my true journey in dogs. For several years I bred and exhibited in the Central United States. I now reside in the Los Angeles area and have bred over 30 Conformation Champions in all colors exclusively owner-handled. Also, I am proud that the Marshland breeding program has produced a multiple year AKC World Agility team member, MACHs, Herding and Obedience Champions, all handled to their accomplishments by their capable owners.
In the '90s I felt compelled to begin judging. Years later, after judging Specialties, the American Sheltland Sheepdog Association National and All Breed shows, it’s turned out to be one of my best decisions. The combination of judging, breeding and exhibiting “illuminates” the standard like nothing else.
The Marshland Kennel name is registered with the American Kennel Club. I am a 25-year member of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association, Collie Club of America, Inc. and the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills. The American Shetland Sheepdog Association membership voted me the honor of judging the 2007 American Shetland Sheepdog Association National Show.
