Ms Alexander is an AKC and UKC approved judge who also judges for rare breed and international organizations. Over the years, Ms Alexander has owned and shown Akitas, Afghans and a Pekinese but is principally known for her ROM/AKC Champion line of Bull Terriers, which she and her husband David have bred for over 30 years under the very successful kennel name of Brigadoon. Their breeding has produced some of the top-winning Bull Terriers in the US. Ms Alexander is a retired Army officer, with an undergraduate degree from Missouri and a master’s degree from the University of Hawaii. While living in Germany and Guam, she completed additional post graduate work. Ms Alexander is a long time member of Del Monte Kennel Club and Gavilan Kennel Club, as well as the Bull Terrier Club of America and a number of breed clubs. For over a decade, she has been and continues to be an AKC Gazette columnist. She occasionally writes for Dog News and other national and international dog magazines. Her first book was published by Barrons NY in 2006. For the past twelve years, Ms Alexander has served and continues to serve on the Board of the Northern California Terrier Association. She is active in breed rescue and serves as legislative representative for NCTA, GKC, DMKC, BCBTC, GSBTC, and MBBTC. Ms Alexander attended the AKC Judges Institute June 1996 and the Senior Conformation Judges Institute September 1995. She also attended the AKC Advanced Working Breeds Institute Nov 2001, the AKC Advanced Toy Institute and the American Dog Show Judge’s Institute in 2008, and participates in various Dog Judges Assn. meetings and training sessions. She is the coordinator for Working and Misc Breeds Education for San Francisco Bay Area Judges Assn. David and Carolyn are Terrier Judge Advisors for GKC. In addition to judging throughout the United States, she has judged in New Zealand, Finland, Canada, UK, Holland and South Africa. She has judged multiple times in China, Australia and Taiwan. Also, she has twice judged in France, including the prestigious French National outside Paris in June 06. In 2011, she is scheduled to return judge in China, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
