Mr. William F. Potter II
Home: SAINT LOUIS, MO

William F. Potter, II started showing purebred dogs in 1968 after acquiring his first Irish Wolfhound as a college graduation present from his wife. He found success breeding, showing, and handling Irish Wolfhounds, including his handling of a national specialty Best of Breed winner. He also became active with Smooth Fox Terriers in 1976. As a breeder/owner-handler of Smooth Fox Terriers, he was responsible for a number of Group and specialty-winning exhibits. Additionally, he has owned and bred Norwich Terriers.

Mr. Potter has been an AKC judge since 1990, and is now approved to judge the Hound and Terrier Groups, Toy Manchester Terriers and Best in Show. He has judged throughout the US and internationally. He has served the American Fox Terrier Club as president, secretary, governor and show chairman. He continues to be active in the Mississippi Valley Kennel Club, presently serving as their secretary and show chairman.

He retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections in 2003 after a 35-year career with the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole and the Division of Rehabilitative Services. He served as director over medical, mental health, educational, vocational and substance abuse treatment services for all incarcerated within Missouri’s Adult Correctional Institutions
