Judge's Background & History

Mrs. Bernadette F. Cox
Home: LACEY, WA
Initial Breed: Retrievers (Golden)

My first litter of Goldens (in 1967) laid the foundation for use of this breed at Guide Dogs for the Blind in California. It also was the start of my very small but successful kennel of 8 consecutive generations of amateur owner-handled Champions, out of only 28 litters. My dogs have appeared in movies and TV commercials and have been GRCA Outstanding Sires, Show Dog Hall of Fame members, guides for the blind and working gun dogs. In my real life, I am past president and show chairman of a large So. California All Breed club. and I have managed Veterinary Corporations in California and Washington state. My husband, David, and I were delighted to own and show the 1988 National Champion Andalusian Stallion, TRANCO, and now are excitedly preparing a two-year-old Thoroughbred Stallion for a racing career. I began judging in 1988, love dogs and horses and enjoy travelling.
