Judge's Background & History

Kurt D. Anderson
Home: North Haven, CT
Initial Breed: Retrievers (Flat-Coated)

My involvement in purebred dogs began in 1974 with the purchase of our first retriever, a Golden, with my then future wife. After owning a couple of Goldens, and training and participating in obedience, we purchased our first Flat-Coated Retriever in 1985. Since then I have bred, owned or handled in excess of 20 AKC Champions, and many of which have or held titles in field, obedience and agility. My dogs have won multiple national specialties in Canada and have won multiple supported entries in both the U.S. and Canada. Currently the AKC Delegate for the FCRSA, Kurt has also held the offices of President, Recording Secretary and Board Member and co-chaired the 1999 and 2009 FCRSA National Specialty in Warwick, Rhode Island. Active in the Northeast Flat-Coated Retriever Club, Kurt has held the office of President, Treasurer and Secretary. Additional club affiliations include memberships in the Elm City Kennel Club where he is Treasurer and show chair, Mid-Atlantic Flat-Coated Retriever Club, the Capital Region Flat-Coated Retriever Club, the Golden Retriever Club of America and the New England Sporting Group Association.
